Hessler Documentary ‘The Last Kamikazis Of Heavy Metal’ In The Works
October 9, 2012
A documentary following the five young guns from Chicago known as Hessler, as they journey West and conquer audiences across America, is in the works.
Biliana and Marina Grozdanova have been working on ‘The Last Kamikazis of Heavy Metal’ for the past six months, documenting the musical trials of the Chicago-based band Hessler. Both on and off the stage, the members of this band are bonded by their passion for music-making and by their allegiance to the legacy of heavy metal and rock ‘n’ roll. So far the sisters have shot rehearsals, demo sessions, concerts, countless days in the life of, and even made it with the band to the Rocklahoma Music Festival, where they played in front of their largest audience to date. This December, Hessler embark on their first national tour and Biliana and Marina want to document the journey.
The Grozdanova sisters have created their own film company called El Jinete Films and have launched a Kickstarter campain at www.kickstarter.com/projects/eljinetefilms/the-last-kamikazis-of-heavy-metal to raise funds towards their cross-country trip as they track Hessler’s every stop.
“Since we are turning to you to help us with our trip across America, we also want to take you along for the ride,” state the Grozdanova sisters. “This is how our film differs from the conventions of the rock music documentary genre. We want you, the film audience, to become our guide along the way and participate on a much more personal level. Lead us through the cities on this tour by telling us about unique places we should visit. Your suggestion may get featured in the film and you’ll have become a location manager with us!”
Hessler consists of Igz Kincaid (guitar), Frankie Sripada (guitar), Lariyah Daniels (lead vocals), Marcus Lee Cox (drums) and Erik Michael (bass). The band are currently in the studio recording the follow-up to their 2011 ‘Bad Blood’ EP. A music video for their latest single “Last Alive” can be viewed at www.hesslerchicago.com.
