Sass Jordan Records Track For Jake E. Lee Solo Album
October 28, 2012
Canadian Juna Award winner Sass Jordan was recently in Las Vegas to record vocals for a song appearing on Jake E. Lee’s upcoming solo album.
“Just back from Vegas and singing on Jake E. Lee’s new record. The song is called “Redeem Me”, and it kicks ass,” said Jordan. “There are a lot of amazing singers on his new CD, including Robin Zander from Cheap Trick and Maria Brink from In This Moment… It’s gonna be killer! Jake was talking about loving Mick Ronson… the fact that I got to hang out with someone who gives Mick Ronson the respect he deserves was pretty cool.”
Jake E. Lee is back after over a decade in seclusion and is in the process of recording his new album in Las Vegas’ very hot Hideout Studios, a private recording studio run by Canadian-bred producer Kevin Churko, Lee’s new release will feature a combination of legendary rock artists and some of the biggest names of new metal.
Earlier this month Lee put out a casting call to find a vocalist who will sing at least one track on the new album and will tour the world starting in late spring 2013. Interested frontman are encouraged to send an email to Ronnie@HideoutLV.com complete with an MP3 of yourself singing an Ozzy Osbourne or Badlands song. Then submit one other song or video of your choosing that you feel best represents who you are as an artist.
Meanwile, Sass Jordan’s new band S.U.N. (Something Unto Nothing have signed a deal with Robo Records (a division of Waterfront Entertainment Group). S.U.N.’s first single “I’m The One” is impacting radio throughout October, 2012, with the full CD release later in the fall.
In S.U.N. Sass Jordan teamed up with songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Brian Tichy, known for his tours of duty with Billy Idol, Foreigner, Ozzy Osbourne and currently Whitesnake, to record an album of anthemic rock songs. Previously working together is what united Jordan and Tichy to collaborate on the new music.
“I had played drums on Sass’s ‘Rats’ record,” explains Tichy. “I knew she was one of the best rock singers out there. So after many years, we reconnected and tried a bit of writing together.” Both felt that in order to write the best, trend-free music they could, they needed to get away. “We didn’t realize where we were going when we started out”, says Jordan. “As we continued the songwriting path from quintessential rock tunes entitled ‘Burned’ to ‘Mobile Again’ to ‘Nomad’ and on … The whole thing started to take shape in the form of a 70’s odyssey, a time travel trajectory.” Completing the band that drives this music home is Michael Devin (Whitesnake, Jason Bonham’s Led Zep Exp., Kenny Wayne Shepherd) on bass and Tommy Stewart on drums (Godsmack, Lo Pro, Everclear, Fuel).
“We are completely thrilled and ready to rock” says Rob Christie (President of Robo Records). “Sass Jordan is one of the great rock vocalists around, and a heck of a song-writer to boot! Brian Tichy and gang are seasoned pros, capable of complete face-melting rock grooves and hooks. I’m so excited to share this new album with the world”
