Sunset Riot Calling It A Day After Farewell Show
August 19, 2013
On October 19th Sunset Riot will play their final show before bidding their fans farewell.
“It is after much thought, prayer and many long hours of personal and collaborative soul-searching, that we must announce the official finale of Sunset Riot,” said the Australian band in a recent statement. “This was not an easy decision to make and has been something very hard to admit, accept and fully realise. After almost half a decade of passionately making music together, we have decided to close this chapter in our lives.”
The next few months will see Sunset Riot tour together for the final time with shows in Sydney, Adelaide (with Aiz Lynch of the Candy Harlots and Melbourne rockers Kill Shott), Melbourne and a festival appearance at Black Stump. “We will forever be grateful and indebted to the many people who believed in us, supported us and invested in us financially, emotionally and in many others ways,” concluded the band. “We have grown together as brothers and love our “SR fam”, which now stretches across the globe. We will forever cherish these relationships, the impact you have had on us and the opportunity you have given us, to do what we love.”
Having released two EP’s — 2010’s self-titled 5-track, produced by Steve James (Screaming Jets, Airbourne) and 2012’s 6-song ‘Uprising’, produced by Mark Opitz (KISS, INXS, AC/DC, Bob Dylan) — and three music videos as well as three tours of the USA to go with a relentless touring schedule up and down the east coast of their native Australia, Sunset Riot have proven that anything is possible if you work hard enough.
