Ace Von Johnson finds Phil Lewis and Tracii Guns led L.A. Guns is “great camp” and fun band to be in
L.A. Guns guitarist Ace Von Johnson was interviewed by Pariah Burke for The Hard, Heavy & Hair Show (which episodes can be viewed at Pariah Rocks) back in December 2019. Von Johnson was announced as the new guitarist in the L.A. Guns version spearheaded by lead vocalist Phil Lewis and guitarist Tracii Guns back in September 2018.

With respect to working with Lewis and Guns in L.A. Guns, Von Johnson indicated (with transcription provided by Pariah Rocks with slight edits):
“Dude, I mean, Tracii and Phil are the best. I couldn’t speak highly enough of either of them without sounding like, like I was making it up. You know, the thing is, is that being in Faster Pussycat for 10 years, and then, you know, having maybe another seven plus years of or eight years of career before that, that a lot of people may be delving into just because it’s not the same genre, or genres. I should say, I’ve worked with — where I’m going with this — I’ve worked with a lot of people. And off stage, on stage, side project, main project. punk rock bands, heavy metal, industrial goth, metal, hair metal, a lot of stuff. And I’ve encountered a lot of personalities. And I can say, without a doubt, hands down. This is the easiest camp I’ve ever worked with the most conducive lack of using that word. The most professional and easygoing…”
Von Johnson went on to add: “I’ve known them and you know, it’s just, it’s a really great camp and a fun band to be in.”
