Air Raid lose their lead vocalist Arthur W Andersson
Bad news indeed as Air Raid have announced today that their singer Arthur W Andersson has decided to leave the band.
Andersson handled the lead vocals on Air Raid‘s last album Point Of Impact, which was released in November 2014.
Sleaze Roxx stated the following in its review of Point Of Impact: “There seems to be a real renaissance of New Wave Of British Heavy Metal sounding bands in the last few years. Groups such as Lady Beast, Midnight Malice and Air Raid are bringing old-school metal to the masses… and that is a great thing! From the Iron Maiden-like guitar harmonies on “Victim Of The Night”, to lead vocalist Arthur W Andersson‘s traditional metal (yet melodic) high-pitched delivery, to the Swedish band’s overall sound, Air Raid have delivered a record that will transport you to the early ’80s NWOBHM glory days. In particular, a track such as the instrumental “Flying Fortress”, with its amazing guitar melodies and solos, will take you back to Iron Maiden‘s classic Powerslave era in a heartbeat.”
The following message was posted on Air Raid‘s Facebook page earlier today:
We are very sad to announce that our singer Arthur has decided to leave the band. The discussion has been around for some months, and doesn’t come like a shock for us. But nevertheless its absolutely not what we wanted to happen.
We shared many great and crazy moments on tour and in rehearsal room, so we will miss him a lot. Raid on bro!
Here’s a message from Arthur to all you Raiders out there:
“I would like to thank Air Raid for three fantastic years and memories that I got to be part of, but lack of time and other priorities have led me to take this difficult decision to leave the band…. Thanx to all Air Raid fans and friends out there!! See ya!!”
With this said, we are now on a big hunt for a new singer.
You can be sure we will come back with a new strong album in 2017! Songwriting is going great!
Stay tuned Maniacs!”
