Alice Cooper Scouts Teen Talent For Christmas Pudding Show

ALICE COOPER SCOUTS TEEN TALENT FOR CHRISTMAS PUDDING SHOW:

November 5, 2008

Niki D’Andrea of the Phoenix New Times reports that for the past eight years, Alice Cooper has given us yuletide rockings with his annual Christmas Pudding show. Phoenix’s resident shock rocker hosts the annual fete to raise money for his charity, the Solid Rock Foundation, a non-profit Christian corporation that provides a recreation center (The Rock Teen Center) for teenagers. To that end, Cooper’s “Proof is in the Pudding” talent competition — which nets the winning contestant a gig at the Christmas Pudding show — now includes a Teen Competition.

Entrants will perform and compete at Alice Cooper’stown restaurant in downtown Phoenix. Preliminary rounds take place November 17 and 18, with semi-finals on November 20 and 21, and finals on December 1 and 2. The top three artists who make it to the finals will compete for a chance to perform with Alice Cooper and his band at the 8th Annual Christmas Pudding Show at Dodge Theatre on Saturday, December 13.

Previous “Proof is in the Pudding” winners include reggae jam band Brewed to Perfection (2007), Valley metal band Kraised (2005), and American Idol winner Jordin Sparks (2004).

Currently on tour, Alice Cooper tells New Times, “There’s so much talent in Phoenix. We want to see who the best of the best is. We did pretty well with Jordin. We hope to do just as well this year.”

Registration for “Proof is in the Pudding” closes Thursday, November 6.
