Ann Boleyn Interview On KNAC This Sunday
ANN BOLEYN INTERVIEW ON KNAC.COM THIS SUNDAY:
July 10, 2008
ANN BOLEYN will be live on KNAC this Sunday, July 13, 2008 sometime between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
BOLEYN has been an industry fixture since the 1970s when she come to Los Angeles to perform with all-girl group, THE RUNAWAYS. Soon after, she hosted her own radio show called “SPEED METAL HELL” in 1977 on KROQ. The term “speed metal” is arguably traced to Boleyn’s 1977 radio show.
In 1982 after playing hammond organ in a series of groups, BOLEYN founded HELLION, and began singing after her band was unable to find a singer. In 1984., HELLION’s self-titled demo was released on MUSIC FOR NATIONS in England, where it landed #6 on the album charts and #2 Record of the Year in Kerrang Magazine. The group went on to tour with acts including WHITESNAKE, DIO, W.A.S.P., SLAYER, SOCIAL DISTORTION, and others but disbanded in 1992 after being dropped from their record label.
After a substantial absense from the music industry BOLEYN is back, this time frounting the reformed 1980s cross-over act, DETENTE, whose lead singer, DAWN CROSBY, died in 1996. The reformed DETENTE includes original members DENNIS BUTLER (drums), STEVE HOCHHEISER (bass), and CALEB QUINN (guitar). DETENTE recently perfomed the TIDAL WAVE FESTIVAL in San Francisco and will be heading off to Europe later this month for a series of shows including the HEADBANGERS OPEN AIR FESTIVAL.
