Are Slash And Axl Rose About To Put Differences Aside To Reunite At Hall Of Fame Induction?
December 29, 2011
Slash and Axl Rose have given Guns N’ Roses fans hope of an original line-up reunion after revealing they’re both keen to put aside old differences as they prepare for their 2012 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction.
Guitarist Slash admits he has done a lot of soul searching following the news his former band is to be among the Hall of Fame’s Class of 2012 and he has been checking out old performance footage of the group.
He tells Esquire magazine, “When I see footage of Guns N’ Roses, I see that f**king hunger and attitude. You could not f*** with those five guys. It was just raw. It was this lean, hungry thing on its way up. It was as sincere as any rock ‘n’ roll that I’ve ever heard, and I’m proud of that.
“The split between Axl and I was a quiet one. But because there was so much attention on the break-up – and are we going to get back together – it got built up into this monster that led to a kind of animosity that wasn’t the focus for me. Neither one of us wants to be down each other’s throats for no reason. At this point, I’m trying to put it to rest.”
Meanwhile, reports suggesting Rose will not be a part of a planned reunion at the Hall of Fame appear to be premature.
The singer says, “I’ve got mixed emotions about what the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame actually really is, but at the same time… I really don’t want to spoil it for everybody else.”
