Are the Ratt classic line-up members reuniting minus Bobby Blotzer?
It’s been well documented how drummer Bobby Blotzer has taken the name Ratt and has assembled a bunch of musicians to tour under that name.
Ratt‘s former and long-time frontman Stephen Pearcy has apparently just posted a photo on Facebook of him, bassist Juan Croucier, guitarists Warren DeMartini and Carlos Cavazo, and reportedly drummer Greg D’Angelo (White Lion). The photo was reportedly taken yesterday night.
Back in 2010, Ratt released their last album Infestation with Pearcy, DeMartini, Blotzer, Cavazo and bassist Robbie Crane. At that point, three of the five members of the Ratt classic line-up were involved. Only Croucier was missing given that it would be impossible to have all five of the classic Ratt line-up together since guitarist Robbin Crosby passed away back in 2002. Cavazo was largely seen as the best replacement for the departed Crosby. Infestation was widely regarded as a return to the trademark and vintage Ratt sound. The album landed the #1 spot on Sleaze Roxx Readers’ Top 20 Albums of 2010 and the #2 spot on Sleaze Roxx’s Top Ten Albums of 2010. In 2012, Croucier rejoined the band meaning that all four remaining members of Ratt‘s classic line-up were together once again. Sadly, the band imploded once again shortly after that.
If Pearcy, Croucier and DeMartini join forces again without Blotzer, one has to think that they would better represent the Ratt name and brand. It will be very interesting to see how things unfold in the future.
