For the last 10 years, Simon Daniels has been the lead singer of the band Autograph. Before that, he was the singer for Jailhouse. He has been singing and playing guitar in bands since he came to California from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In fact, that is the reason he came in the first place.
While he still sings, and he is currently touring with Autograph, he is constantly writing songs, and recently put out a solo EP. Yesterday he released his second video from that EP for a song called “Deja Vu”.
Simon always has something interesting to say it’s very creative ways to say it as you can tell by this line from “Deja Vu”.
‘I swear that I’ve seen this scene play out like that old lore
I heard all the screaming but I couldn’t shut the door’
I spoke with Simon, briefly, about the new song video, and EP.

Sleaze Roxx: I don’t see anyone else listed… Did you play everything on this EP?
Simon Daniels: Yes, indeed! The songs were composed and performed by me on Bandcamp where people can listen to these songs and purchase the EP digital EP for now”
Sleaze Roxx: : Tell me something bout this new song, Deja Vu or the EP. That piano!!! Wow! It gives it a whole new life in comparison to the keyboard version I heard you play a clip up not long ago. This song has a loving melody but that deep piano sound adds a, somewhat, haunting undertone. It’s a beautiful combination! What’s the meaning behind the lyrics?

Simon Daniels: Now that makes me happy! I like to write lyrics that can be interpreted by the listeners in the way they feel them… I have many sides of myself, like everybody else, and I am able to express them through music and songwriting. The song is basically about our internal dialogue. We have conversations with our higher selves all the time. Songs, translate, different states of being. We are fragmented throughout the day, depending on the circumstances that we are experiencing and also how tired or hungry we are. It all affects our perspective. The songs are just a reflection of all of that.
Sleaze Roxx: Well, I loved this song since the first time I heard it. Your first single off this EP was great too and it had a very different feel. It was a happy, upbeat rocker.
Simon Daniels: The menu of life is what we make of it. Art reflects feelings and emotions. I’m wondering if the next song I should release next…. There’s a song called “Human Being” on the EP on Bandcamp. It will either be that or a heavier song I have. It’s a toss up!
Sleaze Roxx: Simon is a true artist he writes the songs for the love of music. Check out the new video released for “Deja Vu” and you can clearly see this is a labor of love. This video sets a nice backdrop for this song.
And while you’re at it, take a look at the first video off of this EP. It’s called “Still Together”.
You can find the full EP on Bandcamp.
