HISTORY:
Big Cock
brought fun and ’80s excesses back to hard rock in 2005 with their incredible debut album Year Of The Cock.

Big Cock is the brain child of David Henzerling, who made a name for himself as David Michael Philips, guitarist in such bands as The Schoolboys, Keel, King Kobra, Lizzy Borden and Geronimo! Under the Big Cock moniker, Philips, vocalist Bryson Jones and ex-Surgical Steel bassist Mark Lehman played a couple live shows for fun, but it wasn’t until 2005 that the Big Cock known today actually came together.

Another former Schoolboys alumni, drummer John Covington was the first to jump on board followed by legendary vocalist Robert Mason (formerly of Lynch Mob, Cry Of Love and countless others). The guys entered the studio and returned a week and a half later with what was arguably one of the best releases of 2005, Year Of The Cock. Bassist Colby joined after the album was almost finished and it featured many tongue-in-cheek rockers, such as “Hard To Swallow”, and new renditions of some King Kobra classics.

The self-titled follow-up and 2008’s Motherload were more of the same, making Big Cock one of the busiest bands in rock and keeping their growing fan base happy. The album Big Cock ended up finishing at #4 on the Sleaze Roxx’s Top Ten Albums of 2006 and #8 on the Sleaze Roxx Readers’ Top 20 Albums of 2006 while Motherload reached the #3 spot on Sleaze Roxx’s Top Ten Albums of 2008 and #11 on the Sleaze Roxx Readers’ Top 20 Albums of 2008. In September 2008, Mason debuted as Warrant‘s new singer replacing Jani Lane and at the same time putting Big Cock on hiatus. Henzerling went on to form a new band titled Tunnel, who released its self-titled debut album in early 2010 and kept the same musical direction as Big Cock minus the sexual tinged lyrics. Henzerling also played on King Kobra‘s two comeback albums King Kobra (2011) and II (2013).

In 2011, Big Cock announced  a fundraising campaign to help cover the recording costs of a fourth album to be called Four-Play. Unfortunately, only $2,075 out of the $15,000 fundraising goal was raised and Big Cock‘s fourth album did not see the light of day.
