Bobby Blotzer blames Juan Croucier for turning Ratt into “Camp Chaos” and for band’s break up in 2014
Former Ratt drummer Bobby Blotzer and his attorney Drew Sherman were recently interviewed by Mitch Lafon of Rock Talk with Mitch Lafon. Blotzer provided some highlights of what would come once the interview was posted by advising that Ratt frontman Stephen Pearcy and bassist Juan Croucier were apparently tried to hire or hired guitarist Jake E. Lee (Ozzy Osbourne, Badlands, Red Dragon Cartel) to presumably be part of Ratt.
Blotzer expressed an interest in perhaps playing with his former Ratt bandmates as he stated (as transcribed by Sleaze Roxx): “I am semi-retired you know. I have a great life. The thing is Ratt makes lots and lots of royalty money and I am not worried that I have to join something cooky like L.A. Guns and travel in a van across the country. So you know, I don’t want to do anything except play with Ratt unless I can join a Beatles tribute band or something [laughs] in all honesty. But you know, I would like to finish the game with Ratt would be ultimately nice. God knows that could probably never happen but I would hope that someday that would be a possibility. We’re in a fight. We’re in a boxing ring. When the fight’s over, the smoke clears you know win, lose or draw, I am up for playing and finishing it off for the fans and for myself you know. I have to live with this cloud in my head and I don’t like it.”
In terms of doing like Mötley Crüe did and putting the band members’ differences aside to do one last money making tour, Blotzer stated: “Ratt should be doing that because we had five arena headlining tours. Everybody knows generally the history of Ratt and we have the catalog you know, so we should be up on the A shelf. I think the main problem you know and has always been you know, Stephen Pearcy has been impossible to deal with. Not just him. All of us were chiefs with no indians. Nobody… You know, everybody had their ideas and we tried to get people in… We had the agreement like “OK. When this person said this, it is not a voting scenario. We do it. We act on it but immediately, you get one of the most controlling father figures, in his head, Warren DeMartini, that wanted to control everybody’s life at home, on the road… It’s just er… There’s just too much commotion. You know, and at the end of every tour, Stephen was quitting. Warren wouldn’t go out unless he got his way and you know virtually — and those were his words, not mine — smoke me and Stephen out of the cave financially to get his way. And you know, it’s a drag dude to do business with children like that. They think they’re smart businessmen but they are so far from it and that’s about it you know. There’s too many opinions. We brought Juan back into this thing. I didn’t. Stephen and Warren forced that on me and I told them straight up, “You do this. He will break the band up. He will send the band into Camp Chaos. You know, they are no longer the three blind mice. They are Camp Chaos. And he did. Those guys were on strike for five years. That’s why I went out and toured.”
