Bobby Blotzer reveals he has demos written with singer Michael Starr for Route 66 project in 1992-93
Former Ratt drummer Bobby Blotzer was recently interviewed by Mitch Lafon for the Rock Talk with Mitch Lafon podcast. Blotzer will be making his return to the stage when he participates in Steel Panther‘s next livestream show dubbed Gobblefest from the world famous Viper Room in Los Angeles, California, USA on December 5, 2020 at 2:00 pm L.A. time.
With respect to the Steel Panther guys, Blotzer indicated (as transcribed by Sleaze Roxx): “I’ve know Ralph [Saenz aka Michael Starr] and those guys — they’re all great friends of mine. Russ [Parrish aka Satchel] and I play golf. We were members at a country club for years. He just moved up to Nevada so we don’t see him very often. He is a great guy. He’s got a son — his name is Jackson — that’s a phenomenal golfer and you know, I’ve known those guys for decades. Me and Ralph were working in my home studio on project that we did back in ’92-’93. It’s called Route 66. Songs I was writing. He was coming over and writing with me. We tried to get a deal but of course at that time you know, if you were anybody from the ’80s, you were like ‘Kiss off. Goodbye. Get out. You’re yesterday’s news.’ But that was naturally as anybody knows…”
Lafon interrupted to ask who had the Route 66 demos to which Blotzer replied: “Yup. That’s funny that you haven’t asked that before. Yeah, they’re in a box out somewhere out in my storage and along with all my platinum and gold records, not only from Ratt but from my friends in Mötley, Great White, Lonnie [Vencent] from the BulletBoys gave me. You know, I have some buddies — we used to exchange stuff like that back in the ’80s, which was nice. But I don’t put them up you know. When I was in this ‘hell hole’ you know with Ratt, and I just didn’t want to look at any. I don’t know. I haven’t had them up anyway — a few around the house when friends come over, whatever, guests. They like to see that kind of stuff to be honest with you. I’ve got some in my office or whatever but you know, the demos and old tapes, that’s all in a box. I’m way too lazy to dig it out and go through it.”
