Bonham Vocalist Daniel MacMaster Passes Away
BONHAM VOCALIST DANIEL MACMASTER PASSES AWAY:
March 17, 2008
Daniel Stewart MacMaster, age 39 years, passed away in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center, on Sunday, March 16, 2008 due to complications from Pneumonia. Daniel MacMaster released two albums with Bonham, and as their vocalist he cracked the Top 40 with the band’s 1989 album Disregard Of Timekeeping, thanks in part to the single “Wait For You”. In 2006 Daniel released a solo album called Rock Bonham…And The Long Road Back on Suncity Records. Daniel’s bandmate in Monkey-MacMaster, Jimmy D, posted the following today:
With a heavy heart I am sad to say that last night my dear friend Daniel passed away.
Daniel and I started working together in early 2005. We found a writing chemistry and friendship like no other…in the world we loved called music. Now at this moment, it’s hard to believe he is gone. We spoke weekly, holidays, birthday’s…always, and I will miss the short time we had together. The writing, the jokes, and the stories. In my eyes he was an extremely talented musician. He taught me so much that I was lacking as a songwriter, and now there will be a void. Knowing now that our plans for releasing music performing together this year will never come to pass, saddens me beyond belief. He and I had our heart set on getting MONKEY-MACMASTER and his solo effort “out to the masses”, as he put it.
My heart and prayers go out for his family through this difficult time.
I will miss you brotha. Forever your dear friend,
JIMMY D
David Moors of Suncity Records also posted the following:
It is with deep sadness that we bring you the terrible news of the passing of Daniel Stewart MacMaster.
Daniel was pronounced dead last night as he lost his battle with complications from Pneumonia. Daniel suffered from Streptococcus Group A Infection that entered his blood stream. Usually people just get the non fatal Streptococcus Throat with this bug but it attacked Daniel at his weakest and his organs started to shut down. The doctors tried everything while Daniel was in hospital, but unfortunately it was too late.
We are all still in a state of shock. Daniel would have turned 40 on July 11th this year.
From personal experience, with all Daniel’s Success, Fame and Talent in his short life, he was one of the most humble and easiest going guys I’ve met while working for Suncity Records.
Daniel’s loss will be felt by the thousands of fans that he has entertained over the years with his extraordinary musical talent and he’s much loved voice.
Our condolences go out to Daniel’s close friends and his family, especially his 2 little kids and his loving wife Tina.
