Bret Michaels Vows To Help Aging Groupies

July 20, 2010

Jennifer Garcia of People.com reports: Bret Michaels never forgets his fans – no matter how old they are.

In a comedic PSA taped for the Do Something Awards, which will air Monday night, the rocker playfully pokes fun at older groupies – and vows to do something to help them.

“Groupies. We all love them, and they love us right back. But what happens when they get too old for the gig,” he asks before images of over-the-hill ardent fans flash onscreen. “Horrifying. Heartbreaking.”

Shedding a genuine tear, Michaels says he plans to help start Groupie Love, the first retirement home for aging groupies, to help those who have fallen on hard times.

Micahels urges viewers to “give to the people who have given nothing but a good time to me and countless other bands.”

The 2010 Do Something Awards, hosted by Jane Lynch, celebrate social change. They air live on VH1 Monday July, 19, at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT
