BUCKCHERRY’S ‘BLACK BUTTERFLY’ EMERGES ON TOUCHTUNES:

September 11, 2008

AMERICA’S NEXT GREAT ROCK BAND TREATS FANS TO A FULL ALBUM PRE-RELEASE VIA 10,000 TOUCHTUNES DIGITAL JUKEBOXES NATIONWIDE

It’s been two years since rock band Buckcherry’s last album. Their much-anticipated fourth effort, Black Butterfly (Eleven Seven Music/Atlantic Records) goes on-sale September 15, but starting September 9, fans can listen to the album in its entirely on 10,000 TouchTunes digital jukeboxes nationwide. The announcement was made by Ron Greenberg, CMO, TouchTunes.

“Buckcherry hits ‘Crazy Bitch’ and ‘Sorry’ have consistently been among the top plays on the TouchTunes network; so we are very excited to be chosen to offer our listeners this unique opportunity to hear what’s new from Buckcherry,” said Greenberg.

In addition to offering the Black Butterfly advance, TouchTunes will be promoting a special Buckcherry ringtone offer from the album. Text 2DRUNK to 33133 and the bands endearingly inappropriate lead single, “Too Drunk” is yours to raise eyebrows . . . and glasses.

Fans who liked Buckcherry’s 15, will love Black Butterfly. Black Butterfly is perfectly suited for pre-release on TouchTunes – it is a party record, thoroughly enjoyed in the company of others around a jukebox.

Buckcherry frontman Josh Todd says, “We spent longer on the writing process for Black Butterfly than for any of our other records. We wanted to make sure that we had the goods, because 15 was a great record. We want to continue to elevate our game.”

The result, Black Butterfly, again captures the band’s ability to master a diverse repertoire of songs. The album erupts with fierce, fast-paced rock tracks like “Rescue Me” and “A Child Called ‘It’.” Yet “Don’t Go Away” is a melodic, mid-tempo plea “about being vulnerable, longing to be with a loved one but feeling so far away,” Todd says. The first single, “Too Drunk…,” is a slinky and sexy track that takes the band in yet another kind of direction, while still retaining a muscular, rocking core.

Following the success of 2006’s RIAA platinum, Grammy-nominated 15 (which included the monster hits “Crazy Bitch” and “Sorry”), the hard rockin’ California quintet returns with Black Butterfly, a 12-song set that strides forward with the kind of confidence and spirit of adventure you expect from a band that feels it constantly has more to prove. Produced by guitarist Keith Nelson and Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Def Leppard, “Almost Famous,” Fuel), Black Butterfly finds Buckcherry using the revival spurred by 15 to push itself even further.

The music industry increasingly partners with TouchTunes to help promote artists in new ways across the largest interactive network in the US. Top artists such as 3 Doors Down, Usher, Beck, Foreigner, Billy Joel, Garth Brooks, and the classic funk band WAR have recently tapped TouchTunes to reach core fans and new audiences.
