June 13, 2009

CHICKENFOOT’S CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED SELF-TITLED ALBUM DEBUTS AT #1 ON BILLBOARD INDIE CHART AND #4 ON BILLBOARD ALBUM CHART

MORE NORTH AMERICAN SUMMER TOUR DATES ALSO ANNOUNCED

Chickenfoot, comprised of guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer Chad Smith, and Van Halen front man Sammy Hagar and bassist Michael Anthony debut with their self-titled release at #1 on the Billboard Indie Chart and #4 on the Billboard Album Chart, it was announced today. With only three days in stores, having been released on Friday, June 5th, the album takes its place on the Top Album Chart just behind The Dave Matthew’s Band, Eminem and 311. The band has also announced more dates including Grand Junction, CO; Tulsa, OK; three stops in Texas and one in Phoenix, AZ for their recently announced first major North American tour with the first dates of the tour go on sale this Friday, June 12th at Ticketmaster locations and www.ticketmaster.com.

Chickenfoot has been hailed by critics:

“Hagar and Satriani have embedded plenty of hooks and compact solos in these tunes, and the refreshingly agile rhythm section motors them along.” — USA Today

“Chickenfoot’s self-titled debut favors straight-ahead rockers like the single “Oh Yeah” or the blues-fed “Sexy Little Thing,” and “Soap on a Rope” sounds like a Led Zeppelin outtake sent back from the year 2019.” — Billboard

“…the band rocks with a vengeance, delivering bludgeoning blows that mix AC/DC-style scorched metal with goodtime riff-rock.” –Performing Songwriter

“…the band’s bombastic debut CD pretty much proves Chickenfoot is a cohesive unit of amazing players who truly enjoy zoning into each other’s musical passions, and having one huge blast churning out rock and roll thrills. Modeled after Led Zeppelin’s riff-and-rhythm propelled onslaught, Chickenfoot evokes the raw, electric energy of the ’70s bands expanding the vocabulary of blues rock, while simultaneously keeping the tones and grooves sharp and modern.” — Guitar Player

Chickenfoot’s North American tour will begin on August 2nd in Halifax, Nova Scotia and will run through the summer. The self-titled debut is a hard rock album that sets the standard for rock music. “The album is an 11-song slab of raging rock,” says writer Joe Bosso of Guitar World magazine. Chickenfoot is produced by Andy Johns (Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones) and mixed by Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Metallica). The band’s first single, “Oh Yeah,” has been embraced by radio: it is the #1 single on the classic rock charts and #3 on the mainstream rock charts. The single is also charting nationally on the active rock charts. An hour long radio special, Inside Chickenfoot, is airing on more than 40 stations nationwide through June 28th.
