David Lee Roth thinks that Van Halen is finished and Eddie Van Halen has his “own story to tell”
The silence surrounding any Van Halen news has taken a real turn as frontman David Lee Roth has recently declared that he thinks Van Halen is finished and that he has inherited the band de facto.
previously announced that he was doing a Las Vegas residency at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA in January and March 2020.
Rumours have circulated for some time about guitarist Eddie Van Halen‘s potential health issues, which Roth has refrained from commenting on.
In a recent interview with Meltdown of the Detroit radio station WRIF about his upcoming Las Vegas residency, Roth was asked whether he was “bummed out” about being unable to tour with Van Halen to which he replied (as indicated by Blabbermouth with slight edits):
“That’s been canceled a number of times, and I think Van Halen‘s finished and this is the next phase. I’ve inherited the band de facto — whatever that means. I think it means if you inherit it, carry this proudly. Van Halen isn’t gonna be coming back in the fashion that you know. And that being said, Eddie‘s [Van Halen] got his own story to tell. [It’s] not mine to tell it.”
Back in mid-June 2019, Roth indicated that he was planning on meeting with Eddie and Alex Van Halen to talk about what was coming up.
