Dee Snider states new solo album contains ballad that is “Close My Eyes Forever” of this millennium
Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider will be releasing his solo album For The Love Of Metal via Napalm Records on July 27, 2018.
Snider provided a video statement (see below) where he states in part (as transcribed by Sleaze Roxx):
“This is a record about inspiration. Everything about it is inspiration. It’s inspired. It starts with Jamey Jasta, the amazing Jamey Jasta, being inspired by me, by my music, by my voice, and inspired to reach out to me while it was on his podcast — some of you may remember — where he challenged me to make a true metal record. To use my voice — his words, ‘iconic’ — and make a really hard record. And I was then inspired by his passion and his words, and his belief in me, and I took that inspiration and rose to the challenge. So now the podcast goes out and Jamey has people bombarding him with songs and ideas, and people want to contribute inspired by the podcast and the conversation. The inspiration continued on and mind you, this is without any kind of record deal. I got no record deal. We are doing this solely out of our own pockets.
Charlie and Nick, Nicky Bellmore — drummer and guitar player extraordinaire, brothers and just slayers — they join the fray. They join the party. We head into the studio. We start recording and immediately, we’re all inspired. Inspired by the tracks. They’re inspired by my singing and then people start stepping forward. Members of Disturbed, Lamb Of God, Killswitch Engage come up. People — Toxic Holocaust — sending music, sending song ideas, contributing to the record. And then more inspiration starts happening. And then people start hearing what we’re doing and want to join me in the studio. Howard Jones duets with me on an amazing track called “The Hardest Way.”
Alissa White-Gluz of Arch Enemy — she hears this track called “Dead Hearts” that I’ve recorded. It’s all about… It’s an anti-bullying song. Fuck bullies by the way. Anti-bullying song and she duets with me. Amazing duet. That song by the way is the “Close My Eyes Forever” of this, this millennium. Wait ’til you hear it! It’s awesome. Again, inspiration, inspiration, no money, no nothing, no record deal — it’s just people hearing what’s going on and getting inspired and fired up about it. And then we finish the record and we put it out there. Napalm [Records] — inspired by this record, by what we’ve done, what we’ve created with nothing — just out of our own pockets, they join the party and they’re releasing this record worldwide. Internationally! It’s going to be everywhere. And a huge push, huge support, huge commitment to — you know, it’s a weird phrase — reintroducing Dee Snider to the metal community because you all know me. You know my legacy but now for the first time in decades, since the Widowmaker days in the early ’90s, the mid ’90s, I got new contemporary metal. And in coming up for a name for this record, there was only one name. Jamey thought of it and I said, ‘That’s the name man.’ For The Love of Metal because I’m OG. I’m an original metalhead….”
