Donnie Vie reveals that there are still some unresolved issues between Chip Z’Nuff and himself
Former Enuff Z’Nuff frontman Donnie Vie was recently interviewed by Love Is Pop and was asked about the song “Troublemaker” that he recorded with ex-Enuff Z’Nuff members Johnny Monaco and Erik Donner.
Vie replied: “There’s still some animosity between Chip and myself. Some unresolved issues. Especially with his new Enuff Z’Nuff record. Some of the things were I guess aimed at me. And I’m like, well, yeah. And I had that song. It was called something else, but Mike and I both thought this is a little Enuff Z’Nuff-y, and doesn’t really fit on my record. I said, hey, I’ll do it as one last Enuff Z’Nuff song. And I love John – he’s a friend – and Erik Donner is just a sweet guy. And they’re both so talented.
So, I figured I’d call them both. I said, do you guys want to do this song? They came down and we banged it out in a day. I thought it came out well. We didn’t push it or anything because it’s pretty strong jabs, you know? But it was all former Enuff Z’Nuff guys so it was fun. It’s a funny song. I was gonna call it Enuff Z’Nuff, but Chip trademarked the name. He owns all that stuff now. I don’t know why or how he did that but I don’t care. As the main writer and vocalist for the band, I would use it if I want to.”

During an interview with Love Is Pop in October 2016, Chip Z’Nuff advised that Vie left Enuff Z’Nuff in 2013. In or about December 2016, Vie released a video under the name Enuf ZNuff titled “Rat On A Phone” which seemed to be aimed at Chip Z’Nuff and Enuff Z’Nuff‘s latest song “Dog On A Bone.” In an interview with the Washington Post in October 2017, Chip Z’Nuff indicated that he was keeping the seat warm in Enuff Z’Nuff in case that Vie wanted to return to the band.
