Eddie Smith shocked Mad Margritt’s most downloaded song for recent yearly quarter is ballad from 2001

The year 2023 has revealed a big surprise for Mad Margritt‘s frontman Eddie Smith. The singer has recently realized that his band’s most downloaded song for the most recent yearly quarter in 2023 is a ballad that stems all the way back to 2021. Ironically, Mad Margritt‘s ballad “Believe” didn’t even make the cut on the band’s compilation album Best Of 1999-2021, which was released back via Perris Records on November 29, 2021.

The following message was posted on Mad Margritt‘s Facebook page earlier yesterday:

MAD MARGRITT SONG FROM 2001 GETS 61,186 DOWNLOADS IN 2023???

So I just got my quarterly statement in from BMI. It shows all the plays/downloads from all the streaming services like Apple Music, Amazon, Spotify, etc.. I hate to admit it but I never really look at the statement, I just deposit the check. Today I decided to look through the statement to see what Mad Margritt songs are getting the most attention. I was SHOCKED by what song got the most downloads. It’s an old ballad from 2001 called Believe. It blew every song in the Mad Margritt catalog away. 61,186 downloads so far this year. Second place is Loaded Gun with 4,563. I’m in total shock!! I like the song but I HATE my vocal on it, I cringe whenever I hear it. I never would have guessed in a million years that it was our most popular song.”
