Eric Carr died at a Manhattan hospital on November 24, 1991 of complications from cancer, he was 41. Carr had been diagnosed as having a malignant heart tumor in April. It was removed but doctors discovered a cancerous growth in his lungs. He underwent chemotherapy treatments at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Institute in June. “Everything looked all right after the treatments,” said spokeswoman Carol Kaye, “He was in remission. He went to the MTV awards in September – that ended up being his last public appearance.”
