Skid Row‘s new singer Erik Grönwall received the offer to join the band before ever meeting his new bandmates consisting of bassist Rachel Bolan, guitarists Dave “Snake” Sabo and Scotti Hill, and drummer Rob Hammersmith. Grönwall only ended up meeting his Skid Row bandmates a few days prior to the group opening for the Scorpions‘ Sin City Nights Vegas Residency, which started on March 26, 2022. Prior to meeting his bandmates, Grönwall also ended up recording a good chunk of his vocals on his own for the upcoming new Skid Row studio album The Gang’s All Here, which will be released via earMusic on October 14, 2022.
The following message was posted on Grönwall’s Facebook page earlier today:
“Here’s a funny story. ⠀
I recorded 80% of the vocals for the new Skid Row album right here in my little studio at my house. Without ever meeting the guys in the band or the producer. I had never recorded myself before and the little experience I had was thanks to the YouTube channel. ⠀
I of course didn’t tell the band and our producer @officialnickraskulinecz that I had no experience. I spent a lot of time on the phone with my buddy @jonatee who helped me and I watched a lot of YouTube videos to figure it out. ⠀
When I met the guys in Vegas and officially became the singer I told @officialrachelbolan about it and he basically said: “I’m so fucking glad you didn’t tell me that earlier”. ⠀
I had no idea what I was doing but I figured it out and the album will be out October 14th! ⠀
