Ex-Megadeth guitarist Jeff Young feels David Lee Roth is “nuts” and explains why he didn’t join his band

Former Megadeth guitarist Jeff Young was recently interviewed by Kenny Kessel for The Metal Voice at the Gramercy Theater in New York City, New York, USA. Young is currently touring with Kings of Thrash which also includes former Megadeth bassist David Ellefson.

Young actually passed on joining David Lee Roth‘s solo band back in the late ’80s and he explained why during the interview (as provided by The Metal Voice with slight edits).

“I passed on that [Jason Becker guitarist got the gig], which I am glad he got him [Jason Becker], to do one killer project before he got sick. He was a buddy of mine. Once I saw his [Jason Becker] movie, I was really glad I passed on it. I was being managed by Diamond Dave management. That’s how I got that offer.”

Young added: “I turned it down. I thought he [David Lee Roth] would end up in [Las] Vegas and that was all the way back then and where did he end up? I might have E.S.P. or something. I just don’t really like his [David Lee Roth] voice, to be honest and now I since learned he is a lunatic, so I made a great choice. He’s nuts.”
