George Lynch offered Ratt gig but sides could not come to an agreement

Lynch Mob, Super Stroke, Sweet & Lynch, Ultraphonix and (occasional) Dokken guitarist George Lynch was recently interviewed by Eddie Trunk on Trunk’s Sirius/XM radio show.

There were some interesting news from the Ratt camp since George Lynch confirmed that he was offered to play in Ratt. Although neither Warren DeMartini, nor Ratt have yet to publicly confirm that the long-time Ratt guitarist is not in the band anymore, it seems that the news surrounding Lynch is confirmation as surely Lynch would not be offered the Ratt gig if DeMartini was still in the band. Of note, Lynch and Trunk did not outline exactly whether the Ratt version that Lynch was contacted about was for the one led by singer Stephen Pearcy and bassist Juan Croucier or the largely currently dormant one led by drummer Bobby Blotzer. It is assumed that Trunk and Lynch referred to the one led by Pearcy and Croucier.

As first reported on Metal Sludge and transcribed by Sleaze Roxx (see start at 7:19 of video below):

Trunk: “Actually I heard you could talk about Ratt.”

Lynch: “Well, it depends what you wanna talk about.”

Trunk: “Is it true you were offered the gig in Ratt?”

Lynch: “Uh huh.”

Trunk: “And you declined?”

Lynch: “Uh huh.”

Trunk: “And something you didn’t wanna do, the deal wasn’t right, anything you wanna say about it?”

Lynch: “Ahh, yeah. We just couldn’t come to, you know, an agreement on it.”

Trunk: “Something that could still be possible, or is it a dead issue?”

Lynch: “I don’t think so.”

Trunk: “Dead issue?”

Lynch (joking) adds: “They haven’t called me back. I’ve been staring at the phone. Wife is like, ‘Honey, you may want to eat something or go to bed.’ ‘I’m waiting for the Ratt phone to ring.’ No I am good with it.”

Trunk [laughing]: “Alright. Alright.”

Lynch [humorously]: “I am playing with Blandini, hello! I don’t wanna play with Ratt. Geez.”
