Glenn Hughes Plans To Shock Fans With Autobiography
March 22, 2010
Former Deep Purple and Black Sabbath star Glenn Hughes plans to shock fans with stories of debauchery and drug use in a new autobiography.
The legendary singer and bassist has teamed up with writer Joel McIver to pen The Life, Near Death, And Rebirth Of A Rock Star: Deep Purple And Beyond.
Metallica’s Lars Ulrich will offer up an introduction to the book, which will feature rare photos.
And Hughes admits even he can’t believe he’s still alive after all the rocker’s lived through: “You’ve never read anything like it… from my childhood via my career in Trapeze and Deep Purple to my addiction and recovery.
“I’m now on top of the world as a solo artist and, after so many years of sobriety, I can hardly believe that I survived. I spent a million dollars on cocaine and, when you’ve read this book, you won’t believe it either.”
The tome will also feature contributions from Hughes’ famous pals David Coverdale, Tony Iommi and designer John Varvatos.
The book is expected to hit shelves later this year.
The Limited Edition of ‘The Life, Near Death, and Rebirth of a Rock Star: Deep Purple and Beyond’ will include an EP of three all new recordings:
– What Is A Woman’s Role?(Trapeze, written by Hughes)
– Holy Man(Deep Purple, written by Hughes, Coverdale, Lord)
– Dying To Live(brand new, unreleased GH track; vibey and bluesy… written by Hughes… acoustic version)
