Guess who’s back? — Lionsault to play first show in seemingly more than four years

Sleaze Roxx readers may remember Canadian Maritime rockers Lionsault whose debut album are you feeling lucky? landed the #8 position on the Sleaze Roxx’s Top Ten Albums of 2015. Lionsault underwent a few line-up changes after the release of their debut record. Sleaze Roxx interviewed the last known line-up of the band — lead vocalist / bassist Kortni Nicols, drummer Chase Nicols and guitarist Cody Ramsdale — back in early November 2018. At that time, the Lionsault band members had some big plans including finishing and releasing their sophomore album. Their last publicized gig on their Facebook page dated back to June 6, 2019 (at the Seahorse Tavern in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada) until yesterday (on August 25, 2023) when the group announced that it was a “special guest” at the upcoming Butcher EP release show at Gus’ Pub & Grill in Halifax on September 16, 2023.

Back on November 3, 2018, the Lionsault band members had previewed some of their new material during their set at the Rhythm & Brews Brewing Company in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada.

When Sleaze Roxx noted to them during the post-show interview that the new songs seemed heavier than the ones on the band’s debut album, Kortni Nicols replied: “Definitely heavier. I find vocally, I’m doing a lot more screaming and stuff like that but I find that our choruses in three or four of the new songs are poppy. The verses are the things that are heavy. But yeah, I could see why you would think that [laughs].”
