H.E.A.T release video showcasing original singer Kenny Leckremo singing Erik Grönwall era material
Swedish rockers H.E.A.T have released a video for their single “Rise” from their latest studio album H.E.A.T II (2020) but with returning / original singer Kenny Leckremo handling the lead vocals.
Back in late October 2020, H.E.A.T made the shock announcement that lead vocalist Erik Grönwall, who handled the lead vocals on their last four studio albums — Address The Nation (2012), Tearing Down The Walls (2014), Into The Great Unknown (2017) and H.E.A.T II (2020) — was leaving the group and being replaced by original singer Kenny Leckremo who appeared on the band’s first two studio albums, H.E.A.T (2008) and Freedom Rock (2010).
In an interview in Spanish with Rafabasa in early November 2020, Leckremo was asked why he left H.E.A.T back in 2010 to which he replied (in Spanish and translated via Google):
“It’s a bit of a complicated situation. I was young and somewhat confused about what I wanted for my life. I’ve been homeless for many years, constantly spinning, playing, sleeping on couches at other group members’ homes, and I’ve never had a chance to establish myself, until there came a time when I had to establish myself. The fact is that at that time all this had become a bit of a problem for me and I knew that I could not be the singer that H.E.A.T needed to move to the next level. I felt that I had many things disturbing my mind that prevented me from focusing to be the singer that the group needed, so the only option I had was to leave it so they could find the singer that they needed. That’s what I felt. Obviously thinking about it now, there were many other things that influenced [my decision], and I am simplifying [it] a bit, but it was a difficult decision, to leave a group that you started, and in fact I have not yet fully understood why I made that decision, but it seemed the right thing at that time.”
