HELIX ANNOUNCES CANADIAN TOUR DATES TO PROMOTE CHRISTMAS CD:
September 28, 2008
Helix vocalist brian Vollmer updated www.planethelix.com with the following news.
This week the new Helix CD “A HEAVY MENTAL CHRISTMAS” was officially released. Fans have already been supporting us on this one by buying advance copies, so as soon as we got it in our hands the envelopes were being filled and the CD sent out to fans all over the world. Response has been terrific, which is amazing considering it is only September, and we’re expecting big things from this disc, especially with it being front racked in Wal-mart stores across Canada.
The dates are also coming in fast and steady and it looks like we’re going to be busy right up until the end of the year. Next week I’m in Halifax being filmed for a small part in the new upcoming Trailer Park Boy’s movie (still un-named) and then on the next weekend we’re in Hamilton and Whitby. On October 30th we’ll be in Toronto at The Phoenix for Carl Dixon’s benefit concert, followed two days later by a gig in my hometown of Kitchener at Molly Blooms. By the looks of things, our western tour will kick off in Kenora, Ontario the weekend of November 15th. Feldman is working on putting us in either Winnipeg/Brandon the next night and then picking up again the next week, either in Regina or Saskatoon on the Tuesday. After that, it looks like the dates will be:
November 19th: Medicine Hat, AB
November 20th: St. Albert/Edmonton, AB
November 21st: Grand Prairie, AB
November 22nd: Prince George, BC
November 25th: Maple Ridge, BC
November 26th: Vancouver, BC
November 27th: Vernon, BC
November 28th: Lethbridge, AB
November 29th: Calgary, AB
More dates could be added to this tour and we’re working on it as we speak!
CARL DIXON BENFIT CONCERT
On Thursday October 30th, 2008 at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto, Helix, Andy Curran & Soho 69, Brighton Rock and Russ Dwarf will perform a concert to benefit Carl Dixon and his family.
Proceeds from the event will go to defray the costs associated with Carl Dixon s’ near fatal car accident that occurred 4 months ago in Australia.
Andy Curran along with Brighton Rock has assembled their original line ups. Both Brighton Rock and Andy Curran & Soho 69 have not appeared live in over a decade. Joining Curran will be his original drummer Glenn Milchem now of Blue Rodeo who will help Andy perform songs from his Coney Hatch catalog and beyond.
Russ Dwarf was the lead vocalist and co founder of the Killer Dwarfs formed in 1981. Russ is now fronting his new solo band for the first time in Toronto (tricycle TBA??).
Helix is currently supporting their latest release “THE POWER OF ROCK N ROLL”. Brian Vollmer’s band is still going strong after 30 years and has 2 Platinum records and 4 Gold records to their credit. We call this line up the “Full Metal Package” says Brighton Rock lead vocalist Gerry McGhee.
Russ Dwarf warns us…. “It’s going to be a cool evening of some really heavy all Canadian hard rock and metal from yesteryear…. and it’s for a great cause, Carl is good friend of all four bands”
“If you survived the 80’s, chances are you will want to be there”!! Adds Curran. “October 30th is not far off and all of us always dressed like it was Halloween everyday!”
Tickets are only $20.00 and go on sale September 5th @ www.ticketbreak.com . Tickets are also available at The Phoenix Box office 410 Sherbourne Street or for more info go to www.libertygroup.com.
