Honeymoon Suite, April Wine And Cherie Currie Added To Rock Gone Wild

HONEYMOON SUITE, APRIL WINE AND CHERIE CURRIE ADDED TO ROCK GONE WILD

May 2, 2009

Rock Gone Wild, America’s newest and most diverse rock festival, has added three classic rock acts to its lineup. Canadians making the trek south and rock fans in general will be thrilled to hear that the legendary April Wine will appear at this year’s festival, along with melodic rockers and fellow Canucks Honeymoon Suite. The other announcement is quite a shock-just a year after Lita Ford came out of retirement (she will appear at this year’s festival as well), comes the news that original Runaways singer Cherie Currie will be making a rare live appearance at RGW.

April Wine released six albums in Canada before American audiences took notice of the band’s seventh release, First Glance, and its single “Roller” in 1978. Harder…Faster and Nature of the Beast made the band stars stateside, and the group’s live show has kept them on the road ever since, playing big hits such as “Sign of the Gypsy Queen,” “Just Between You and Me” and “I Like to Rock.”

Honeymoon Suite didn’t have to wait for its sixth album to make a mark in America; the band’s debut record, with singles such as “Big Girl Now” and “Burning in Love,” was a hit, and tours with Bryan Adams and Heart allowed the group to play to huge audiences in the states. Its second album, The Big Prize, was equally as successful, as the single “Feel It Again” was a Top 40 smash in the summer of 1986. The original quintet that made those records is back together and touring in 2009.

After keeping a low profile over the years, Cherie Currie is back onstage this summer, for the first time in a long time. With a Runaways movie in production, the time is now for Currie to re-appear and promote the music of that legendary Hollywood-based, all-girls band.

With these announcements, the bill for the inaugural Rock Gone Wild is shaping up as one of the most interesting ever presented in the States. American fans have long clamored for a European-style rock festival that features bands from today’s scene as well as the 70’s. Those same fans have asked to see melodic rockers, hair bands and power metal groups on the same bill, and as you can see by checking out the festival line-up at www.rockgonewild.com, this dream is closer to reality with every band announcement that is made.

Rock Gone Wild is scheduled to take place August 20-23 at the Freedom Park Festival Grounds in Algona, Iowa. Tickets are available now at www.rockgonewild.com or by calling 1-888-677-8877.

If you want to go wild this summer, Rock Gone Wild is the place to be. With over 40 bands on two stages and campground parties going all night long, even the most insatiable rock appetite will be satisfied. Festival organizers are very excited about bringing Rock Gone Wild to the state of Iowa, and making Algona the vacation destination for rock fans across the country.
