Izzy Stradlin states his non-participation in GNR reunion due to unsuccessful negotiations
Guns N’ Roses rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin was recently interviewed by the Wall Street Journal and spoke about his non-participation in Guns N’ Roses‘ very successful reunion of what ended up being three classic line-up band members — singer Axl Rose, guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan — back in April 2016. The trio went on to embark in a worldwide tour dubbed Not In This Lifetime Tour, which grossed record sales.
While drummer Steven Adler made a few short appearances on select tour dates in North and South America, Stradlin has yet to appear back on stage with Rose, Slash and McKagan during the Guns N’ Roses reunion.
Stradlin explained his absence to the Wall Street Journal as follows: “The current GN’R tour has been a great success for the guys. My nonparticipation was simply not being able to reach a happy middle ground through the negotiation process. That’s life. Sometimes things don’t work out.”
Reportedly, Stradlin practiced with Rose, Slash and McKagan in anticipation of the Not In This Lifetime Tour but could not agree on a cameo fee as the rhythm guitarist reported that the rest of his former bandmates did not want to split the fees equally.
