Jack Russell’s Great White guitarist Robby Lochner drops video for new single “Why Not”
Jack Russell’s Great White and King Kobra guitarist Robby Lochner has unveiled a video for his latest single “Why Not” which was originally released back in early March 2023. The track features Lochner on guitar and lead vocals, Dan McNay on bass and Ken Mary on drums.
Lochner discusses the song via his Bandcamp page. “This song I originally composed for the latest King Kobra record but ended up keeping it for myself. I enlisted lyric help from Emily Eyre to see where it’d go. She said it reminded her of driving a car so she wrote lyrics about that. I morphed the lyric Emily had to keeping it about driving a car but with a bit of sexual inuendo. I ended up doing a re-write on the lyrics as I thought they were good but felt maybe it should go somewhere else. I sang that version down and the one I kept and played it to a circle of people for feedback. It was a close call but most went for this version. Maybe someday I’ll release the other version. I had the chorus of “Why Not” before I gave to Emily and kept it thru both versions. The inspiration for the new lyric was Jack Russell circa 1987. I wrote it about how I envisioned Jack after the 1987 release “Once Bitten” came out and when he was on top of the world. The lyric really could be about anyone who figures “Why Not” go for my dreams…. The song is dedicated to Jack.”
