Judas Priest to likely wait until Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction day to decide who will be part of it

Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford was recently interviewed by Jimmy Kay for Canada’s The Metal Voice and the singer was asked who would accept the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame induction award if the band was inducted in Cleveland, Ohio, USA on May 2, 2020. The question of course is really whether former long-time Judas Priest guitarist K.K. Downing would be part of the band members receiving the award. Earlier this week, Downing advised via Facebook that he had contacted the Judas Priest camp to see if he would be included in the group’s 50th year anniversary celebrations but he was told the group did not intend on including him in that regard.

In terms of who will be part of Judas Priest‘s possible induction into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame, Halford indicated (as transcribed by The Metal Voice with slight edit): “I feel we’re going to have to wait until the day quite frankly but it’s Judas Priest in every aspect, in every respect and to be nominated for the second time is a another thrill and an honor for everything that we love about Judas Priest and the fifty years that we’ll have you know I’ve been around as a metal band next year. So whatever turns out will be great for Priest and will be great for metal.”

In terms of why he decided to release another Christmas album (which is titled Celestial and which was released last month), Halford advised: “This is a special one for me, I’ve got my brother on drums and my nephew on bass and a couple of respective friends on guitars Jon Blakely and Robert Jones. So we kind of wrap this up as Halford family and friends because that’s exactly what it is and it just seems like a great opportunity to work with my immediate family that I wanted to do for years. I was with my family a couple of Christmas’ ago and we were listening to Winter Songs, so I said to them let’s see what we can make in terms of music in this holiday theme together. Write some new songs and add some traditional songs and I got the green light and what a great time we had. The way the record turned out was just phenomenal.”
