On remixing Winger’s first album, Kip Winger stated (as provided by Rockin’ Interviews): “I want to remix the first album, maybe even the second. But the first album maybe would sound a lot closer to Pull if I mixed it. The third album is when I really learned how to make an album. When we got to Pull, I could finally make the band sound how I always wanted it to.”
On having to prove himself, Kip Winger opined: “On the third album Pull, I didn’t feel like I had anything to prove, but it was a do or die situation. We knew it was over. Everyone just wanted to hate Winger at that time so there was nothing to be able to prove. Certainly I have nothing to prove now, so I don’t think in those terms. People like Alice Cooper and Alan Parsons will tell you what the real deal is about me.”
In terms of misconceptions about himself, Kip Winger indicated: “People glamourize being an artist but it’s full on torture, at least for me it is. The whole identity of Kip Winger is a misconception. Everything about it. Except for those in the know. People think Kip Winger is probably this egomaniac who still believes it’s 1985 and he’s a rockstar. I never settled into feeling confident about any of that, it’s always been how can I make my music better.”
