KISS Planning To ‘Kick Some Butt’ In 2011 With Their 20th Studio Album

January 27, 2011

KISS are set to enter the studio in March and hope to have a new album, their 20th, out by the end of the year.

The band’s 2009 album ‘Sonic Boom’ was their 19th full studio release, and marked the first time they’d put out an album for over ten years.

Speaking to Backstageaxxess.com, guitarist Tommy Thayer said: “We’ll probably be in the studio by March, so sometime this year I’m sure you’ll see a spanking new KISS album that’s going to kick some butt!”

Despite the 11-year gap between 1998’s ‘Psycho Circus’ and ‘Sonic Boom’, their 19th album turned out to be the band’s highest-ever charting album.

“We are starting to work on writing some songs, and we’ll approach it just like we did with ‘Sonic Boom’,” Thayer said of the new album. “Keep it all in the band in terms of the writing, with no agenda besides writing great rock’n’roll songs that we love.”

Thayer also said that the new album would once again be produced by the band’s frontman Paul Stanley. “Paul knows more what a Kiss record should sound like than anybody,” he said, “so he is going to lead the charge and produce it again.”
