L.A. Guns Part Ways With Bassist Scotty Griffin
September 21, 2014
After several years together, L.A. Guns and bassist Scotty Griffin have parted ways. The split seems rather sudden, as the band are in mid-tour and just performed at Los Angeles’ Sunset Strip Music Festival last night.
“Scotty Griffin and the band have decided to part ways,” said the members of L.A. Guns. “As our bassist off-and-on for the past seven years, including our latest release Hollywood Forever, Scotty has been a true road warrior, a stellar musician, and a better friend. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
Griffin first joined L.A. Guns, featuring longtime members Phil Lewis and Steve Riley, in 2007 only to depart two years later. In 2011 he rejoined the group and played bass and keyboards on their most recent studio album ‘Hollywood Forever’.
L.A. Guns have already announced Griffin’s replacement, oddly enough the same man who took his spot in the group back in 2009 — former Beautiful Creatures member Kenny Kweens.
“We’d like to welcome back Kenny Kweens and look forward to rockin’ out the rest of 2014,” continued the band. “Next up on the slate is Jacksonville and Melbourne this weekend. Make sure to come out and support our newest member and you’re guaranteed a kick ass time.”
