Philadelphia based rockers Mach22 have released a music video for the song “I’m Just A Man”, the first single off their upcoming EP ‘American Swagger’, slated for a February 2013 release.
With a sound coined as ‘Led Zeppelin meets Lenny Kravitz’, Mach22 is a rising star from Philly’s vibrant music scene. The band’s soulful vocals and raw driving rhythms are reinforced by an impressive level of musicianship and showmanship reminiscent of vintage rock ‘n’ roll.
Mach22’s present incarnation was forged by vocalist Lamont Caldwell, guitarist Ty Asoudegan and bassist Frank Day — accomplished musicians brought together by their passion for playing the blues-based hard rock of the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. The group was later rounded out with guitarist Sebastian LaBar and former Juliet’s Vice drummer Damian MonteCarlo.
Mach22’s most recent accomplishment was being chosen by rock legend Slash to open his show in Atlantic City on the tour for his new album ‘Apocalyptic Love’. The band then went on to become the grand prize winners of the ‘Onstage with Slash’ contest, sponsored by Guitar Center. Over 3000 unsigned bands competed nationwide in the contest launched in late April 2012. Bands were judged by Slash on presentation, originality, creativity, melody, vocal ability, music, lyrics, and entertainment value, hoping to be awarded a grand prize tour support package valued at more than $30,000. With solid reviews in each contest phase, Mach22 secured the top prize.
“Winning a contest of this caliber is something most bands dream of and we have it in the palm of our hands,” said Lamont Caldwell. “We won’t waste this opportunity and we’ll work hard to make great things come from it. We can’t thank Guitar Center, Slash, and all the sponsors, enough for the Grand Prize package. The new equipment, accessories, and apparel, will no doubt enhance our creativity and better our performance. We’re ready to rock!”
