Metallica’s Hetfield Helps Out California Parks

METALLICA’S HETFIELD HELPS OUT CALIFORNIA PARKS:

James Hetfield has an appreciation for nature.

The Metallica frontman recently purchased a large plot of land in San Rafael, California, and he has donated 438 acres to the Marin County Department of Parks, Open Space and Cultural Services, according to the Associated Press.

Marin County will never exercise development rights on the land, according to Ron Miska, Assistant General Manager for the parks system, and public access will not be allowed on the 438 acres.

Hetfield bought the land in order to build a 14,000-square-foot house and studio for himself and his wife. The remainder of the land, which he bought on the open market, will be preserved in perpetuity.
