Michael Monroe shares Vince Neil’s eyes said more than “1000 words” ever could during their first meeting
Hanoi Rocks frontman Michael Monroe has a reputation as a class act and the singer has further enhanced that reputation after his first ever meeting with Mötley Crüe‘s lead vocalist Vince Neil.

For those who might have forgot, Neil was the driver behind the wheel during a car accident on December 8, 1984 that led to the death of his passenger and Hanoi Rocks drummer Razzle (Nicholas Charles Dingley). Both Neil and Razzle had been drinking prior to getting into the vehicle driven by Neil. Wikipedia reports that “Vince Neil was charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with the crash. His blood alcohol content was 0.17, well above the California legal limit at that time of 0.10. In September 1985, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Edward Hinz, Jr., sentenced Neil to 30 days in jail and five years probation.” Hanoi Rocks never recovered from Dazzle‘s death and the band split up in June 1985.
Both Mötley Crüe and Monroe were scheduled to perform at the Rockfest festival in Hyvinkää, Finland which was taking place from June 8 to 10, 2023, and Neil and Monroe ended up meeting for the first time on Friday, June 9th, 2023.
The following message was posted in part on Monroe‘s Facebook page on June 10, 2023:
“One of the most important moments of my life was meeting Vince Neil for the first time last night. Razzle always wanted us to meet as he thought ”us singers”were a lot alike. Under different circumstances both bands probably would’ve ended up as good friends, but fate had other plans…Thank you for your time, Vince. We didn’t say much but your eyes told me more than 1000 words ever could. And your singing was great at the show. Nice to finally see you guys live! Michael
