Michael Sweet clarifies his role in Sunbomb including that he didn’t handle the production
Sunbomb consisting of Stryper frontman Michael Sweet on lead vocals, L.A. Guns founder Tracii Guns on guitar, ex-L.A. Guns member Adam Hamilton on drums and Mitch Davis on bass just released a lyric video for their debut single “No Tomorrows” yesterday. Sunbomb‘s debut album Evil And Divine will be available via Frontiers Music Srl on May 14, 2021.
The group’s debut single has received mixed reviews including a scathing one from Tuff frontman Stevie Rachelle.
The following message was posted on Sweet‘s Facebook page earlier today:
“I hope you guys are enjoying the new song from Sunbomb.
Just to give you a little bit more information about the project, I was asked by Tracii Guns to sing on this project. These are songs that Tracii & Mitch wrote and eventually found their way into Alessandro‘s hands to have the melodies and lyrics revised.
When the music came to me and it was time for me to start recording vocals, I rearranged some of the lyrics and melodies so it was a little closer to my style. So the album wound up being a co-right by all of us. Traci, Mitch, Alessandro and myself.
As far as the production goes, I did not produce the album. For some reason some people assume that I did based on the fact that I’ve been doing a lot of producing lately. This album was only a vocal performance for me. No guitars, no production or arrangement.
For the most part the reviews have been great! LA Guns fans and Stryper fans alike seem to really dig what we did. This was meant to be a raw, in your face album. Going back to the old way of doing things with less overdubs and simple production.
Without naming names and giving the “negative” reviews a voice – we’re doing what we love to do. We have a label that believes in us and wants to work with us on many projects based on their love for us. At the end of the day it really doesn’t matter what the haters say. We’re writing, recording and releasing albums and we’re blessed to continue doing so. Maybe some of the haters out there are bitter because they aren’t? Who knows. I do know however that words will never stop the train. We’re rolling down the tracks at 100 miles per hour and we’re humbly smiling as we continue to follow our dreams. To all the haters out there – stop wasting your time on earth worrying about other people’s dreams and start making your own dreams come to life. You’ll be much happier;-)
Anyway and more importantly, there are hundreds of thousands of friends/fans worldwide who continue to support and who are always there. I thank you for that and I’m eternally grateful
More to come…….
