Michael Sweet doesn’t understand how people can think Sweet & Lynch sound like Stryper or his solo stuff

Sweet & Lynch featuring Stryper frontman Michael Sweet and Lynch Mob guitarist George Lynch are scheduled to release their sophomore studio album Unified via Frontiers Music Srl on November 10, 2017. Sweet has apparently received some comments that the new Sweet & Lynch songs sound like his solo material or Stryper songs as he took to Facebook to explain how the songs on the new Sweet & Lynch album were created.

The following message was posted on Sweet‘s Facebook page earlier today:

“It’s very interesting to hear from people that Sweet & Lynch sounds like an MS project or even a Stryper project. I’m scratching my head on that one. George wrote ALL the music on this new album. I wrote the melodies and lyrics and produced it but again, he wrote ALL the music.

Unless George is secretly a closet Stryper fan and purposely writing songs that sound like Stryper (insert extreme sarcasm here), I’m just getting it? Of course with me singing and writing the melodies then to some degree it’s going to take on a bit of the MS/Stryper thing but I gotta laugh when I read comments like “it’s just another MS solo album” and “it sounds just like Stryper“. I’m not to blame this time around”

Sleaze Roxx stated the following in its review of Sweet & Lynch‘s debut album Only To Rise: “Only To Rise is filled with great melodies and amazing guitar work from George Lynch — some of his riffs and leads take me back to Dokken‘s Tooth And Nail and Under Lock And Key albums, while a few of the guitar driven songs remind me of the first Lynch Mob album. And those of you that have followed Michael Sweet since Stryper‘s comeback already know that the frontman has been on a mission, and his voice is in the best shape of his career. Also, let’s not forget his writing and production abilities, both of which are nothing short of brilliant.”
