Michael Sweet states if he did not lead Stryper, there most likely wouldn’t be a band

The always outspoken Stryper frontman Michael Sweet posted a message on Facebook earlier today in part about his leadership role within the band, which states:

“First and foremost, I hope all of you had a blessed and beautiful Christmas?

I’ve always tried so hard to be transparent. I wrote a book and poured my heart out on every page and shared my own personal issues and shortcomings with the world. I’ve never tried to hide anything. I have many faults. I’ve never walked away from the truth although a select few may say and think otherwise.

I want to be a man of integrity. That’s the most important part of who I am. I work hard, I’m disciplined and I’m a visionary. God made me that way. Does that mean that I’m an ego maniac or a control freak? No, it doesn’t.

I’m very focused and driven. That’s why I lead the band at this time. It’s a very difficult job (and not one that I really want to be honest) but I seem to be the one most qualified at this moment and for the past 15 years. If I didn’t lead this band there most likely wouldn’t even be a band. That’s not to take anything away from the other guys as they do contribute a great deal. It’s simply to say that’s just the way that it is.

Why am I writing this? To say that I know who I am and you know who I am and I appreciate all of you and your support……

God bless you all and I look forward to seeing on the road in 2018……..
