Former Mötley Crüe guitarist Mick Mars was recently interviewed by Andy Greene for RollingStone and the guitarist provided in-depth and revealing insights into his life prior to joining Mötley Crüe in 1981.
It is no secret that there is litigation currently pending between Mars and his former Mötley Crüe bandmates — Nikki Sixx (bass), Tommy Lee (drums) and Vince Neil (lead vocals).
Mars made some revealing comments about the lack of any offstage relationship that he has had over the last four decades with Sixx, Lee and Neil. While noting that Sixx last visited him during the Dr. Feelgood (1989) era, Mars indicated: “He’s only [ever] visited me two or three times at the most… Tommy came over once, and Vince just came over once, even though he lived around the corner from me in Venice Beach. It’s just the way we worked.”
That being said, Mars is noted to have been struggling with addiction issues and moving out of his mold infested Malibu house in 2005. Sixx is quoted as stating: “He moved into my house…. I took him to doctors, and I actually had to spoon-feed him since he was so fucked up.”
In other news, Mars indicated that his upcoming debut solo album will be titled Another Side of Mars.
