Nemanja N. Stojanovic and Lazer Blazing Long Sticks Band consisting of Nemanja Stojanovic (Bulletproof) on lead guitar, Danko Stojanovic (Bulletproof) on bass, Lorenzo Vicenzo on lead vocals, Rogelio Souza on keyboards and Glenn Welman on drums have unveiled their ’80s influenced debut single titled “Lady”. The track is a significant departure from Bulletproof‘s Airbourne sounding songs.

Speaking exclusively to Sleaze Roxx, guitarist Nemanja Stojanovic was asked what prompted him to write and record an ’80s type song to which he replied: “I have always been an ’80s lover type of guy. All of my bands have been strongly influenced by this hot tasty wave of good music. The difference between my solo project and other stuff is that I decided to go full on ’80s — pedal to the metal — with all of these synths, screams, tasty licks and all of the other things from that beautiful era. I frankly think that every musician should do what he feels deep inside and it doesn’t matter if people are going to like it. There are always people who won’t like what you do. The main thing is to go forward with your ideas and creativity. The most important thing for me is to never compromise with things you love. As soon as you start compromising, it’s not the same thing anymore and the magic is gone. You should make deals but not compromises [laughs]. For example, my first album with Bulletproof, it’s raw and barely mixed with all of the mistakes on it because we wanted to stay with the magic of the moment [laughs].”

With respect to how he found his bandmates to record the track “Lady” and how the moniker Lazer Blazing Long Sticks came about, Stojanovic indicated: “I knew some of the guys and the others, I found them on the internet after some difficult searches. But once I found them, I was so happy that they could understand my ideas and the ways of developing it. You know, it’s very important when people can follow your craziness [laughs]. You can for example hire the best hired gun in music industry, but if that person doesn’t feel the way you feel it, it’s simply not going to sound like what it’s supposed to be. The “Lazer Blazing Long Sticks Band” [laughs] — it was quite simple… You can always find the inspiration for your band name via various ’80s action films! Also, I didn’t want it to sound so serious like for example “Nemanja N. Stojanovic and Legions of Doom” [laughs]. That’s more appropriate for something else [laughs].”

On whether his new group will be recording more songs in the ’80s vein, Stojanovic indicated: “Actually, we are going to release a full album of eight songs by the end of the year if everything goes as planned. Sleaze Roxx will be notified of course! Some extra musicians will be involved including a pair of guests and so on.”

In terms of what’s going on with Bulletproof, Stojanovic revealed: “Oh yeah, Bulletproof‘s second album is already finished. It’s completely different from the first one. I mean, the changes are not that drastic but in some ways, they are. First of all, I’m not singing on it. A friend of ours is handling the vocals for this one plus we have some surprise guests. It’s really badass! I can’t wait for people to hear it. The drum tracks were recorded by Kyle Brian, one of the L.A.’s finest hard smashers, and on the bass, it’s still my brother Danko. There are again eight songs on the album. People keep me asking why every time on every project, there are only eight songs and my answer is always the same — that’s the right amount of music so that people are always coming back for more. I stole this “recipe” from early Black Sabbath [laughs]. I really hope that the album number two will be released this upcoming summer or autumn.”
