Great White officially have a new frontman! AON (All Or Nothing) frontman Brett Carlisle is the new lead vocalist for Great White and he’s replacing Andrew Freeman (Last In Line, ex-Lynch Mob, ex-Offspring, ex-Lies, Deceit & Treachery) whose tenure was a short one given that it lasted less than six months. It has been a challenging year for Great White since Carlisle is their third lead vocalist since the start of 2022. Great White‘s previous singers consist of Jack Russell (1982 to 2011), Terry Ilous (2011-2018), Mitch Malloy (2018-2022) and Andrew Freeman (2022). Former Warrant singer Jani Lane toured with Great White as a guest vocalist back in 2010.
Speaking exclusively to Sleaze Roxx, Carlisle revealed how he ended up singing for Great White. Carlisle stated: “The manager of my band AON (All Or Nothing) is close friends with Great White for many years. Back in April, Great White played at The Showroom at Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York. AON had a show right after theirs at The Gig, Exit 33 also at Turning Stone. Audie Desbrow and Scott Snyder came to see us play after their show. Fast forward to September and Audie called Eric, our manager, and asked him if I would be available to sing in Vegas on September 24th. Next thing I knew, I was on a plane headed to a studio to put vocals on some Great White tracks. Eric sent them to Michael Lardie and I got the Vegas gig.
In terms of how he prepared for and first handled the pressure of singing for Great White, Carlisle revealed: “I grew up listening to Great White and loving the songs. AON has covered a few of them before so I felt pretty comfortable with several of them already. I just wanted to do do my best at staying as close as I could to the original recordings with Jack and respect them because that’s what people remember and expect to hear.”

With respect to how he officially became the Great White frontman and whether he’ll be singing on the next Great White album, Carlisle indicated: “It just kind of came to be. As far as a new studio album, Mark Kendall has said in interviews that he has been writing like crazy. If Mark and the rest of the band think I am the one to be on it, then I am so down!”
The following message was posted on Great White‘s Facebook page yesterday (on October 20, 2022):
“Exciting Great White News to Share
You might have noticed a new face and a new voice in some recent press clips and videos. Please welcome Brett Carlisle as the new Great White lead singer. Brett hails from Alabama and is already showcasing a monster voice and stage presence. Many of the fans have shared their opinions – and we agree – that Brett is an amazing addition to the Great White sound.
You might also be asking what happened to Andrew Freeman on vocals? Andrew is fully committed to making records and touring with his band Last In Line. We wish him nothing but the best of luck in all his future endeavors. While our time with Andrew was shorter than we expected, he’s a wonderful, highly-respected person and a great singer.
It’s a very exciting time for Great White. We never set out to be perfect – it’s rock and roll. We’re here for the music and for the fans. We will see you on the road soon – all confirmed concert dates are still happening.
Keep rocking and thank you fans,
Mark, Michael, Audie, Scott & Brett“
