EX WANTS $10 MILLION FROM MOTLEY CRUE’S MICK MARS:
February 9, 2005
It’s about time Mick Mars got some bad press when it comes to his dealings with the ladies.
The guitarist for hair-metal rockers on the comeback trail Mtley Cre has joined his bad-ink blood brothers Vince Neil and Tommy Lee this week after getting slapped with a $10 million palimony suit by a former gal-pal who claims Mars pulled out of a promise to take care of her for life.
Mars’ ex, Robbie Mantooth, says in her suit that the two had been dating since 1990 and that she gave up her “career” as a documentary filmmaker (no record of Mantooth’s previous documentary efforts could be found after a search Wednesday) to devote her energy to shacking up with the rocker at his Malibu digs.
Per the complaint, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court Tuesday, the woman claims that Mars gave her verbal assurances that he would take care of her financially, even if they split. Mantooth says they agreed to divvy up all their property when and if they split–which they did in December 2004.
Mantooth is seeking a full half of Mars’ property in addition to monthly support and damages.
The suit is a near carbon copy of an action brought by HBO talk show host Bill Maher’s ex-girlfriend in November.
Mars has so far stayed mum on the suit, and his rep at BWR Public Relations in Los Angeles declined comment when reached late Wednesday.
Presumably Mars is too busy to comment because he and the rest of the Dr. Feelgood gang are currently prepping for a massive U.S. arena tour that kicks off next week in Florida.
Mars and the band just scored their seventh Top 10 debut with their latest greatest-hits package, Red, White and Cre. The disc bowed at number six on the Billboard 200 after selling 90,000 copies.
The guitarist becomes the latest of the Cre crew to get caught up in a court fight because of a woman. Neil is still facing a civil suit filed by a Nevada prostitute who claims he roughed her up (he has already pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery on the criminal side), and Lee’s legal skirmishes with Pamela Anderson are the stuff of legend.
