VELVET REVOLVER’S SLASH NAMES BEST GUITARIST BY ‘ESQUIRE’:
March 22, 2005
Velvet Revolver lead guitarist Slash has won Esquire magazine’s 2005 Esky Music Award for Best Guitarist, according to Blabbermouth.net. Slash accepted the award with a statement in which he said, “This is my first guitarist award ever. It’s very humbling. I’d like to thank my parents, and I’d also like to thank everyone I’ve ever f–king worked with in the music business from the point I started at up until now — the bands I’ve been in, the sessions I’ve done, and the artists I’ve worked with. My wife is at least half of the reason I’m still walking. I’d also like to thank Robert Wolin; he got me to switch from bass to guitar. Thank you.”
Velvet Revolver won its first Grammy Award on February 13, taking home a Best Hard Rock Performance trophy for the song, “Slither.”
The band continues to promote its debut disc, Contraband, along with the album’s third single, “Dirty Little Thing.”
Velvet Revolver begins its North American headlining tour, called the Electric Wonderland Show, Tuesday (March 22) in Montreal, Canada.
