MCQUEEN STREET MEMBERS FORM NEW SIDE PROJECT:
December 7, 2005
McQueen Street members Derek Welsh, Richard Hatcher, Pat Bailey and KaneBowden have formed a new side project and will be performing selectdates throughout the Southeast. The band is called “The Cold Hard Truth”and the first live performance will be in 10 days in Montgomery. The short interview below with singer Derek Welsh sheds some light on things.
Why the new project?
DW: First and foremost, we all wanted to get out and play stuff that welove and have a good time doing it. In short, just get together and rockas hard as we possibly can.
What kind of stuff will you be playing?
DW: Hard Rock! Cool stuff from the 80s and early 90s as well asclassics. Guns n Roses, Motley Crue, Skid Row, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Stones, etc. Alot of the music we used to play before we got signed and some ofthe stuff we always wanted to play but never got around to. You know, screaming, headbanging, break stuff, hold up your lighter till yourfinger starts to burn kind of music!
What about Hatcher?
DW: Love the guy. He’s a walking work of art. He’s still as full of shitas the day I met him. Actually, if it’s humanly possible I think he’seven more full of shit now.
So where and when is this first show going to be?
DW: In Montgomery, AL on Friday, December 16th at a place called Off TheWagon. It’s owned by and old friend of ours and although I’ve never beenthere I’ve heard it’s got a great vibe going on. We’ll probably go onsome time around 10:30 PM but I never get my times straight. I wouldsuggest calling the club or going to their Web site.
Can we expect to hear any McQueen Street?
DW: Sure, we’ll definitely be playing some of the favorites. We’llprobably wait until the end of the set so people will be good andsweaty. Hard to believe it’s only 10 days away. We’re really lookingforward to it!
