TELEVISION AND RADIO PERSONALITY RIKI RACHTMAN TO CO-HOST TONIGHT’S TAPING OF VH1’S ROCK HONORS CONCERT EVENT AT THE MANDALAY BAY RESORT IN LAS VEGAS
VH1 COMMENTATOR AND FORMER HOST OF MTV’S HEADBANGER’S BALL TO CONDUCT EXCLUSIVE BACKSTAGE INTERVIEWS AT ROCK HONORS THAT WILL AIR WEDNESDAY, MAY 31ST, AND HONOR ROCK ICONS QUEEN, KISS, JUDAS PRIEST AND DEF LEPPARD
Television and radio personality RIKI RACHTMAN – perhaps best known in the music world for his stints on MTV and VH1 and best known in the racing world for his one-of-a-kind weekly radio show – will be conducting interviews backstage “as only RIKI can,” at tonight’s taping of VH1’s Rock Honors. In addition, he will also be announcing the artists and presenters.
“I’m not a reporter… I’m not a journalist… I’m just a rock fan… so being in the same room as Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Brian May, Rob Halford and Joe Elliott is unbelievably cool for me,” says RACHTMAN. “Having been a part of the NASCAR scene with my radio show, it’s nice to get back to my roots and be a part of this great music event. I’m just honored to be a part of it.”
RACHTMAN’S immensely popular syndicated radio show, Racing Rocks with Riki Rachtman (www.racingrocks.com) combines two of his passions – NASCAR and Rock’n’Roll – and is heard coast-to-coast “from Daytona to Sonoma” on over 95 stations.
Earlier this month at Richmond International Raceway, RIKI interviewed such NASCAR stars as Tony Stewart, Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Burton on stage in front of thousands. Since the inception of his show that he created with United Stations just three years ago this month, RIKI has interviewed some of the biggest names in NASCAR including Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Gordon.
Tonight, RACHTMAN is excited to switch gears, as he joins host Jaime Pressly (from the NBC hit show, “My Name Is Earl) on stage for the festivities.
Rumor has it that RIKI might be doing something else of major stature with VH1 in the very near future… so stay tuned!
The Rock Honors concert event – which will take place at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas – will salute such idols of rock as Queen, KISS, Judas Priest and Def Leppard and explain how each band came up with its unique sound and measure the influence each has had on modern music.
In addition to performances by all four honorees, the show will also feature performances by Foo Fighters, the All-American Rejects and Godsmack, who will help praise the icons and turn the evening and event into an even bigger spectacle.
Rock Honors will air on VH1 on Wednesday, May 31st, at 9pm Eastern time/8pm Central time.
RIKI says, “it promises to be a good time had by all… especially me!”
