HELIX WORKING ON NEW TUNES FOR A FALL RELEASE:
June 4, 2006
On June 11th we’ll be heading into Mole Studios to record the next three tracks for the upcoming Helix CD. Once again Rob MacEarenern will be on drums, Steve Georgeapopolos on guitar, and Jeff Fountain on bass. We’re going to be recording Baby Likes to Ride, The Past is Back to Kick Your Ass, and Do You Believe In The Power of Rock n’ Roll. These three songs were once again written by Gord Pryor, Steve Georgeapopolis, and myself. We also have several more songs on the burner: Murder in High Heels, Can’t Turn Back Time, and The Tequilla Song (just to mention a few!) and a re-make of a song I wrote several years ago with Marc Ribbler in Brooklyn, called Hung Over But Still Hangin’ In. The CD is scheduled to be completed by this fall.
TOURING UPDATE
As anyone who has followed the band over the past several years will tell you, 2006 has seen us play more than we have since the early 90’s. We started out the year with several Ontario dates followed by a Western Canadian tour, followed by seven dates with Alice Cooper, followed by a sold out (2,000 seat) show at The Listowel Arena to celebrate the 125th L.D.S.S. reunion. In two weeks we’ll be in Peterborough (June 16th-THE JUNCTION) and then the next afternoon in Thunder Bay for the ROCKIN’ THE FORT FESTIVAL with Vince Neil, Quiot Riot, and Lou Graham. Lynda, Jeff, Christine, and I are then heading for Mark Lake to stay at my brother-in-law’s camp for a little R&R. Then on July 14th we’ll be at the Canadian Armed Forces base in Borden, Ontario. The next weekend (July 22nd) we’ll hook up again with Alice Cooper, Vince Neil, & Quiot Riot at THE HAWK ROCKS THE PARK here in London. For the fall we are focusing on returning to Timmins, Sudbury, and Windsor, with possible dates in October with Alice Cooper.
Next year we hope to return to Europe in support of the new CD. I’m also working on U.S. dates with the help of Ken Sherwood and Rick Van Dyke, my new guitar player. Let’s see what happens.
